Job Brief
The Laboratory Chemist is responsible for conducting qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses and experiments to ensure quality control, process optimization, and the development of new products. This role requires a strong foundation in chemistry, analytical techniques, and laboratory safety protocols. Ideal candidates will possess a degree in chemistry or a related field, along with relevant laboratory experience and proficiency in advanced analytical instrumentation.
Responsibilities
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses using standard laboratory techniques and equipment to assess chemical properties and compositions.
- Develop and validate analytical methods to ensure accurate testing and compliance with industry regulations.
- Prepare and document detailed experimental protocols, observations, and results to maintain accurate laboratory records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to product quality and process efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment.
- Stay current with advancements in chemistry and laboratory techniques by participating in professional development opportunities.
- Assist in training junior laboratory staff and interns on laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in a laboratory setting, ideally within a chemical manufacturing or research environment.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment, including spectrophotometers, chromatographs, and titration instruments.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and good laboratory practices (GLP).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Effective communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with team members.
