Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Kiln Door Builder with expertise in constructing and repairing industrial equipment, including kilns, furnaces, and ovens. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with refractory materials and a strong understanding of thermal systems. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently and collaboratively to ensure the efficiency and safety of high-temperature operations.
Responsibilities
- Construct and assemble kiln doors and related components using refractory materials.
- Repair and maintain kilns, furnaces, and other thermal processing equipment.
- Survey and assess equipment conditions to determine necessary repairs and modifications.
- Implement safety protocols and best practices while working with high-temperature systems.
- Collaborate with engineers and other tradespeople to enhance equipment performance.
- Utilize specialized tools and machinery for cutting, shaping, and installing refractory materials.
- Document work processes and maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance activities.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in kiln and furnace technology.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Kiln Door Builder, or in a similar role within the refractory or manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of kiln operation and refractory materials.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with safety standards and protocols in industrial environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications in welding, fabrication, or refractory work are a plus.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials as required.
