Job Brief

As a Kennel Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of various animals including dogs, cats, and other non-consumable species. Your primary responsibilities will include feeding, grooming, bathing, and exercising animals, as well as maintaining clean living environments. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for animal care, strong communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional service in settings such as kennels, animal shelters, and zoos.

Responsibilities

  • Feed, water, and groom animals to promote their health and well-being.
  • Exercise and socialize animals to enhance their physical and emotional health.
  • Clean, disinfect, and maintain cages, pens, and animal habitats.
  • Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to senior staff.
  • Record feedings, treatments, and admissions/discharges of animals to maintain accurate records.
  • Assist with bathing and administering basic care treatments as needed.
  • Provide companionship to animals to reduce stress and promote comfort.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to create a positive environment for animals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in animal care preferred.
  • Strong understanding of animal behavior and basic care practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Physical stamina to lift, move, and care for animals of various sizes.
  • Experience with record-keeping and attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations related to animal care.
  • Certifications in animal care or first aid is a plus.
