Job Brief
The Joy Loader operates underground loading equipment to efficiently load and transport core, ore, or rock materials using shuttle cars, conveyors, or mine cars. This role requires a skilled operator with experience in utilizing various mining machinery such as power shovels and hoisting engines equipped with cable-drawn scrapers. Key competencies include safety awareness, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work in challenging underground environments.
Responsibilities
- Operate Joy Loader machinery to load and move ore, rock, and core materials in underground mining operations.
- Ensure efficient material handling and transportation using shuttle cars, mine cars, and conveyor systems.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections and perform minor maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Collaborate with the mining team to coordinate loading schedules and optimize production workflows.
- Monitor equipment performance and report any issues or malfunctions to the maintenance team promptly.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training or certification in mining operations preferred.
- Proven experience operating Joy Loaders or similar underground loading machinery in a mining environment.
- Strong understanding of underground mining safety standards and practices.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and withstand physically demanding conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Valid driver’s license and any necessary certifications required for operating heavy machinery.
