The Job Estimator plays a critical role in preparing cost estimates for product manufacturing, construction projects, or service offerings. Responsibilities
- Analyze project specifications and blueprints to determine accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and time.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather the necessary data for cost evaluation.
- Utilize estimation software and tools to create detailed and precise cost breakdowns.
- Research and assess market prices for materials and labor to ensure competitive bidding.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for management review and decision-making.
- Monitor project budgets and adjust estimates as necessary throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends, construction techniques, and pricing strategies to enhance estimating processes.
- Provide recommendations for cost-saving measures and efficiency improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Job Estimator or in a similar estimating role.
- Strong proficiency in estimation software, such as Sage Estimating, PlanSwift, or equivalent.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing structures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Professional certification in estimating (e.g., Certified Estimating Professional) is a plus.
