Job Brief
The Jewel Bearing Facer is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining grinding and related tools to precisely remove excess material, burrs, and imperfections from jewel bearings and other delicate components. This role requires a strong attention to detail, proficiency in precision grinding techniques, and experience with various metal and plastic workpieces. Ideal candidates will possess a keen understanding of tooling procedures and quality control measures to ensure optimal product performance.
Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate grinding machines and equipment for jewel bearing facings.
- Operate grinding and polishing tools to achieve desired surface finishes on metal and plastic components.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure high-quality output and adherence to specifications.
- Inspect workpieces for defects and verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on grinding machines to ensure efficient operation.
- Document production processes and maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to improve processes and resolve issues.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in machining or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a grinder or in a similar role within a precision machining environment.
- Strong knowledge of grinding techniques, tools, and quality control standards.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Familiarity with CNC machinery and programming is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
