Job Brief
As an Infectious Waste Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining public health and environmental safety by managing the collection, transportation, and disposal of infectious waste. Responsibilities
- Collect samples of infectious waste, gases, soil, and water for laboratory testing.
- Conduct field tests to monitor environmental conditions and identify pollution sources.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding infectious waste management.
- Maintain accurate records of waste collection and disposal activities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of waste management protocols and safety procedures.
- Collaborate with environmental specialists to analyze test results and identify potential health risks.
- Participate in training programs related to hazardous materials handling and environmental safety.
- Provide support during audits and inspections related to waste management practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in environmental science or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in waste management, environmental testing, or a similar role.
- Knowledge of regulations and best practices for infectious waste handling and disposal.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment used in environmental testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate waste collection vehicles.
- Certifications in hazardous materials handling or waste management are a plus.
