Job Brief

As an Income Tax Preparer, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely tax returns for individuals and small businesses. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file individual and small business tax returns in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Analyze financial records and documents to determine applicable deductions and credits.
  • Provide tax planning advice and strategies to optimize clients’ tax situations.
  • Assist clients in understanding their tax obligations and answer any inquiries regarding their tax returns.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax law changes and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Review and verify tax returns prepared by junior staff members, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Utilize tax preparation software to streamline the tax filing process and enhance efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with clients via phone, email, or in-person consultations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Income Tax Preparer or in a similar role, with a focus on individual and small business tax preparation.
  • Strong understanding of tax laws, regulations, and filing procedures.
  • Proficiency in using tax preparation software (e.g., TurboTax, H&R Block, Drake Tax).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with clients and explain tax concepts.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., IRS Annual Filing Season Program, Enrolled Agent) preferred but not mandatory.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality regarding sensitive financial information.
