Job Brief
The Gunner’s Mate is responsible for targeting, firing, and maintaining a variety of weapons systems used in combat operations, including artillery, missiles, and torpedoes. This role requires hands-on experience with weapons systems and a strong understanding of combat operations. Key responsibilities include conducting preventive and routine maintenance on weapons and associated equipment, as well as ensuring proper storage and handling of ammunition. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain artillery, missile, and torpedo systems used in ground and naval combat.
- Conduct testing and inspection of weapons, ammunition, and related equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on weapons systems to enhance reliability and performance.
- Establish and maintain effective radio and wire communications for coordination during operations.
- Utilize computer systems for targeting, firing, and launching weaponry accurately and efficiently.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations for handling and storing hazardous materials.
- Train junior personnel on weapon systems operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Collaborate with other military personnel to plan and execute combat operations effectively.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; military training in artillery or related fields is preferred.
- Proven experience with weapons systems, including guns, cannons, missiles, and torpedoes.
- Strong understanding of military operations and combat tactics.
- Familiarity with computer systems used in weapons targeting and firing processes.
- Ability to pass physical fitness and security clearance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Certifications related to military weapon systems and safety protocols are a plus.
