Job Brief
The Aircraft Loadmaster is responsible for supervising and coordinating the loading, unloading, securing, and staging of cargo and baggage for various aircraft. This role requires a keen understanding of weight distribution and aircraft center of gravity calculations to ensure safe and efficient operations. A successful candidate will have experience in cargo management and possess strong communication skills to work effectively with ground crew and flight personnel. The Aircraft Loadmaster may accompany flights to monitor cargo in transit and assist passengers with safety and emergency procedures.
Responsibilities
- Supervise loading and unloading operations to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Coordinate with ground crew to secure and stage cargo effectively, optimizing space and weight distribution.
- Calculate and determine the aircraft’s center of gravity based on cargo weight and orientation.
- Monitor cargo during flight and manage any in-flight cargo related issues.
- Assist in the briefing of passengers on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Conduct pre-flight checks to verify load integrity and compliance with airline specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of cargo manifests and weight distribution reports.
- Provide training and guidance to ground personnel on proper loading techniques and safety measures.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Aircraft Loadmaster or in a related aviation support role.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft loading procedures and weight and balance calculations.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and cargo handling best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant certifications in cargo operations or aviation management are preferred.
- Proficient in using cargo loading software and related technology.
