Job Brief
As an Agricultural Extension Educator, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the knowledge and skills of individuals and families engaged in agriculture and related processes. You will provide expert instruction and guidance on agricultural techniques, pest management, food safety, budgeting, nutrition, and child development. Responsibilities
- Deliver educational workshops and programs focused on agricultural practices, pest management strategies, and food safety.
- Provide one-on-one consultation and support to farmers and families on home management topics, including budgeting and nutrition.
- Develop and implement community outreach initiatives to disseminate research-based agricultural knowledge.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and implement improvements based on participant feedback.
- Collaborate with local agricultural organizations and government agencies to promote sustainable agricultural practices.
- Stay current with agricultural trends, research findings, and emerging technologies to inform program development.
- Assist in the creation of educational materials, including brochures, handouts, and online resources.
- Engage in professional development activities to enhance personal and professional growth in the field of agricultural education.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Extension Education, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Proven experience in agricultural education, community outreach, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of agricultural techniques, pest management, and food safety regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
- Ability to develop and execute educational programs and workshops effectively.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills, with an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using technology for educational purposes, including online learning platforms.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various locations for outreach activities.
